By 1944 the Armia Krajowa (ang. Home Army) had some 380,000 men, although not all of them were armed. The Bataliony Chłopskie (Peasants' Battalions) was also active in occupied Poland with 175,000 men; other active groups include NSZ (National Armed Forces) with 80 000 men, and the smallest underground movements of communists Armia Ludowa numbering around 30,000 men supported by the Red Army. By the summer of 1944, Polish underground forces numbered more than 300,000 with some estimates of over 400,000-600,000.
