Vatican's Position
The Sacred Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith at the Vatican has a published and detailed set of steps for "Judging Alleged Apparitions and Revelations" that claim supernatural origin. In 1978 the Sacred Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith (formerly of the Holy Office) issued Normae Congregationis, i.e. "Norms of the Congregation for Proceeding in Judging Alleged Apparitions and Revelations".
The higher levels of the Vatican hierarchy have expressed skepticism about The Poem of the Man God. In 1992, Cardinal Dionigi Tettamanzi wrote that the he viewed the visions and dictations of Maria Valtorta as "simply the literary forms used by the author to narrate in her own way the life of Jesus" and that they cannot be considered supernatural in origin.

“I think the most important education that we have is the education which now I am glad to say is being accepted as the proper one, and one which ought to be widely diffused, that industrial, vocational education which puts young men and women in a position from which they can by their own efforts work themselves to independence.”
—William Howard Taft (18571930)
