Plant Stanol Ester
Stanol esters are a heterogeneous group of phytosterol esters with a saturated sterol ring structure known to reduce the level of low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol in blood when ingested. Despite well documented cholesterol lowering effect no evidence of any beneficial effect on CVD or overall mortality exists and a meta-analysis published in 2012 suggests that there is no effect.cite
