Graves

Its grave customs are not well known, but Västerbjers on the island of Gotland has produced a large number of grave fields, where the limestone has preserved the graves well. Famous quotes containing the word graves:

Her image was my ensign: snows melted,
Hedges sprouted, the moon tenderly shone,
The owls trilled with tongues of nightingale.
    —Robert Graves (1895–1985)

We forget cruelty and past betrayal,
Heedless of where the next bright bolt may fall.
    —Robert Graves (1895–1985)

Magnified one thousand times, the insect
Looks farcically human; laugh if you will!
Bald head, stage-fairy wings, blear eyes,
A caved-in chest, hairy black mandibles,
    Long spindly thighs.
    —Robert Graves (1895–1985)
