Monasteries Named After Saint Pishoy
There are currently three monasteries in Egypt that carry the name of Saint Pishoy:
- The Monastery of Saint Pishoy at the Nitrian Desert
- The Monastery of Saint Pishoy at Deir el-Bersha, near Mallawi
- The Monastery of Saint Pishoy at Armant, east of Armant
- Note that the Red Monastery near Souhag is also named after an Egyptian saint called Pishay. This saint is not to be confused with Saint Pishoy.

Famous quotes containing the words named and/or saint:
“We named you Joy.
I, who was never quite sure
about being a girl, needed another
life, another image to remind me.
And this was my worst guilt; you could not cure
nor soothe it. I made you to find me.”
—Anne Sexton (19281974)
“Its impossible to represent a saint [in Art]. It becomes boring. Perhaps because he is, like the Saturday Evening Post people, in the position of having almost infinitely free will.”
—W.H. (Wystan Hugh)
