Pilsner - Style Creation

Style Creation

Pilsner beer is generally regarded as different from a lager, but is actually a style of lager. It uses a partially malted barley, giving it a lighter flavour, with none of the roasted or smoked flavour that was commonly found in German beers until the 19th century. The first pilsner was created using saaz hops and credited to Bavarian brewer Josef Groll.

Famous quotes containing the words style and/or creation:

To translate, one must have a style of his own, for otherwise the translation will have no rhythm or nuance, which come from the process of artistically thinking through and molding the sentences; they cannot be reconstituted by piecemeal imitation. The problem of translation is to retreat to a simpler tenor of one’s own style and creatively adjust this to one’s author.
    Paul Goodman (1911–1972)

We should always remember that the work of art is invariably the creation of a new world, so that the first thing we should do is to study that new world as closely as possible, approaching it as something brand new, having no obvious connection with the worlds we already know. When this new world has been closely studied, then and only then let us examine its links with other worlds, other branches of knowledge.
    Vladimir Nabokov (1899–1977)
