Pilgrims Pre-Preparatory School

Pilgrims Pre-Preparatory School is a co-educational, Independent day school for children aged between 3 months and 8 years. The Little Pilgrims unit is a nursery school catering for children from the age of 3 months–3 years (the nursery is within the main school complex). The school is part of the Harpur Trust family, and aims to prepare all its pupils for entry to the main Harpur Trust Schools: Bedford Girls' School, Bedford School and Bedford Modern School.

The school building, which opened in January 2000, was designed by the winners of a national competition managed by RIBA Competitions, Hampshire County Architects. It was built in Brickhill, Bedford on part of the site of the former (unrelated) Pilgrim Upper School and thus retains in its name the reference to one of Bedford’s most famous citizens John Bunyan, author of The Pilgrim's Progress. Pilgrim Upper School merged with John Howard Upper School in 1988 to form Biddenham Upper School in Biddenham.

Famous quotes containing the words pilgrims and/or school:

The word of the Lord by night
    To the watching Pilgrims came,
As they sat by the seaside,
And filled their hearts with flame.
    Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803–1882)

It is not that the Englishman can’t feel—it is that he is afraid to feel. He has been taught at his public school that feeling is bad form. He must not express great joy or sorrow, or even open his mouth too wide when he talks—his pipe might fall out if he did.
