Famous quotes containing the words defense, pick and/or rolls:
“Our reliance is in the love of liberty which God has planted in our bosoms. Our defense is in the preservation of the spirit which prizes liberty as the heritage of all men, in all lands, every where.”
—Abraham Lincoln (18091865)
“Strictly speaking, one cannot legislate love, but what one can do is legislate fairness and justice. If legislation does not prohibit our living side by side, sooner or later your child will fall on the pavement and Ill be the one to pick her up. Or one of my children will not be able to get into the house and youll have to say, Stop here until your mom comes here. Legislation affords us the chance to see if we might love each other.”
—Maya Angelou (b. 1928)
“And this, because the heart in thee is the heart of all; not a valve, not a wall, not an intersection is there anywhere in nature, but one blood rolls uninterruptedly an endless circulation through all men, as the water of the globe is all one sea, and, truly seen, its tide is one.”
—Ralph Waldo Emerson (18031882)
