p-Hydroxybenzoic acid glucoside, picein, piceatannol and its glucoside (astringin), isorhapontin, catechin and ferulic acid are phenolic compounds found in mycorrhizal and non-mycorrhizal roots of Norway spruces. Piceol and astringin are also found in P. abies.
