Famous quotes containing the words narrow, railway and/or trust:
“On this narrow planet, we have only the choice between two unknown worlds. One of them tempts usah! what a dream, to live in that!the other stifles us at the first breath.”
—Colette [Sidonie Gabrielle Colette] (18731954)
“Her personality had an architectonic quality; I think of her when I see some of the great London railway termini, especially St. Pancras, with its soot and turrets, and she overshadowed her own daughters, whom she did not understandmy mother, who liked things to be nice; my dotty aunt. But my mother had not the strength to put even some physical distance between them, let alone keep the old monster at emotional arms length.”
—Angela Carter (19401992)
“My trust,
Like a good parent, did beget of him
A falsehood in its contrary, as great
As my trust was; which had indeed no limit,
A confidence sans bound.”
—William Shakespeare (15641616)
