Jumping Rock
"Jumping Rock" is a popular rock that sits on the northern side of Phelps Lake. It is so called "Jumping Rock" for the reason that it performs as a natural diving board. It is a 25-30 foot drop into the lake, but the water is deep enough for those brave enough to jump in. The water is freezing, even in August.

Famous quotes containing the words jumping and/or rock:
“O to break loose, like the chinook
salmon jumping and falling back,
nosing up to the impossible
stone and bone-crushing waterfall”
—Robert Lowell (19171977)
“Here is no water but only rock
Rock and no water and the sandy road
The road winding above among the mountains
Which are mountains of rock without water
If there were water we should stop and drink
Amongst the rock one cannot stop or think”
