Phantasy Star III: Generations of Doom - Development Notes

Development Notes

A well-known trick can be found at the start of the game. Before meeting Maia and setting the wedding sequence in motion, if the player acquires and uses an Escapipe while Rhys is locked in the dungeon, all will be as it was before the kidnapping. However, the story will not advance and the player cannot leave the town. The King will say "You used your Escapipe! Normally a smart move, but now I'm afraid the game can't be continued. Please press the reset button and try again." Since the player starts out with no meseta, Rhys' boots have to be sold in order to buy the Escapipe.

The Japanese Mega Drive version of Phantasy Star III contains parallax scrolling in all battle backgrounds. This was removed in the Genesis and PAL versions of the game.

Famous quotes containing the words development and/or notes:

Somehow we have been taught to believe that the experiences of girls and women are not important in the study and understanding of human behavior. If we know men, then we know all of humankind. These prevalent cultural attitudes totally deny the uniqueness of the female experience, limiting the development of girls and women and depriving a needy world of the gifts, talents, and resources our daughters have to offer.
    Jeanne Elium (20th century)

In trying to understand the appeal of best-sellers, it is well to remember that whistles can be made sounding certain notes which are clearly audible to dogs and other of the lower animals, though man is incapable of hearing them.
    Rebecca West (1892–1983)
