Peter Taylor (footballer Born 1928) - Death

Death

Peter Taylor died suddenly whilst on holiday in Costa De Los Pinos, Majorca, aged 62 on 4 October 1990. When told of Taylor's death by Ron Fenton, Clough apparently did not speak, put the phone down on him and cried heavily. He also, whilst very upset, made a phone call to the Taylor family. Clough attended the funeral 11 days later and dedicated his 1994 autobiography to Taylor saying "To Peter. Still miss you badly. You once said: 'When you get shot of me there won't be as much laughter in your life'. You were right".

He is buried in the churchyard of St Peter's Church in Widmerpool, Nottinghamshire.

Famous quotes containing the word death:

In accordance with the law the death sentence was announced to Cincinnatus C. in a whisper. All rose, exchanging smiles.
    Vladimir Nabokov (1899–1977)

‘Tis no great valor to perish sword in hand, and bravado on lip; cased all in panoply complete. For even the alligator dies in his mail, and the swordfish never surrenders. To expire, mild-eyed, in one’s bed, transcends the death of Epaminondas.
    Herman Melville (1819–1891)

For ‘tis not in mere death that men die most.
    Elizabeth Barrett Browning (1806–1861)
