Famous quotes containing the words peter, steak and/or house:
“That matches are made in heaven, may be, but my wife would have been just the wife for Peter the Great, or Peter Piper. How would she have set in order that huge littered empire of the one, and with indefatigable painstaking picked the peck of pickled peppers for the other.”
—Herman Melville (18191891)
“Being American is to eat a lot of beef steak, and boy, weve got a lot more beef steak than any other country, and thats why you ought to be glad youre an American. And people have started looking at these big hunks of bloody meat on their plates, you know, and wondering what on earth they think theyre doing.”
—Kurt Vonnegut, Jr. (b. 1922)
“It takes a heap o livin in a house t make it home,
A heap o sun an shadder, an ye sometimes have t roam
Afore ye really preciate the things ye lef behind,
An hunger fer em somehow, with em allus on yer mind.”
—Edgar Albert Guest (18811959)
