Perthshire (UK Parliament Constituency) - Boundaries

Boundaries

The constituency was created to cover the county of Perth, minus the burgh of Perth, which was a compontent of the Perth Burghs constituency.

In 1832, as a result of the Representation of the People (Scotland) Act 1832, the Perth Burghs constituency was abolished, the Perth burgh constituency was created, and five detached parishes of the county were merged into the Clackmannanshire and Kinross-shire constituency.

In 1885, as a result of the Redistribution of Seats Act 1885, the Perthshire constituency was divided to create Eastern Perthshire and Western Perthshire.

Famous quotes containing the word boundaries:

Women’s art, though created in solitude, wells up out of community. There is, clearly, both enormous hunger for the work thus being diffused, and an explosion of creative energy, bursting through the coercive choicelessness of the system on whose boundaries we are working.
    Adrienne Rich (b. 1929)

The boundaries which divide Life from Death are at best shadowy and vague. Who shall say where the one ends, and where the other begins?
    Edgar Allan Poe (1809–1845)

It is the story-teller’s task to elicit sympathy and a measure of understanding for those who lie outside the boundaries of State approval.
    Graham Greene (1904–1991)
