People Can Change

People Can Change (PCC) is an American nonprofit organization supporting men wishing to reduce or eliminate their homosexual desires. The organization hosts weekend retreats for these men. Their stated mission is "to offer other men who seek similar transformation a pathway of healing, by providing information, training, coaching and support." PCC is also a signatory member of Positive Alternatives to Homosexuality (PATH), a coalition of ex-gay organizations seeking to support those with unwanted homosexual desires.

PCC was founded in 2000 by Rich Wyler, based on his own experience with conversion therapy. In an interview with Warren Olney, Wyler explains the purpose of the group is to help men find peace and fulfillment in their lives. While he states that may mean living as gay for some men, he claims others have found fulfillment in celibacy or in a heterosexual relationship.

Famous quotes containing the words people and/or change:

I didn’t have any looks, I didn’t have any talent, and it was easy for me to say to the Lord, “I don’t have anything.” If you only knew where I came from ... this leetle-bitty town with no more than twelve hundred people in it. So ... anything I am today, He is the one who has done it [ellipses in source].
    Kathryn Kuhlman (1907–1976)

There was no need for a feminist philosophy. My mother never stopped to think that she couldn’t do something.... You didn’t have to change the rules. Just be a strong and skilled individual, work hard, do your homework, and you can do it.
    Katherine Berman Mariano (b. 1957)
