Route Description

Pennsylvania Route 863 heads northwest from U.S. Route 222 on Independent Road. The route crosses into Weisenberg Township, where it makes a right turn onto Golden Key Road. Shortly after, Pennsylvania Route 863 features an interchange with Interstate 78/U.S. Route 22. The route continues northwest and enters Lynn Township. Near the northern terminus, Pennsylvania Route 863 makes a right onto Allemaengel Road. The road swings to the north and Allemangel Road splits from Pennsylvania Route 863 by way of a right turn, and the final short stretch of Pennsylvania Route 863 before the intersection with Pennsylvania Route 143 at Lynnport is known as Behler Road.

Famous quotes containing the words route and/or description:

A route differs from a road not only because it is solely intended for vehicles, but also because it is merely a line that connects one point with another. A route has no meaning in itself; its meaning derives entirely from the two points that it connects. A road is a tribute to space. Every stretch of road has meaning in itself and invites us to stop. A route is the triumphant devaluation of space, which thanks to it has been reduced to a mere obstacle to human movement and a waste of time.
    Milan Kundera (b. 1929)

I fancy it must be the quantity of animal food eaten by the English which renders their character insusceptible of civilisation. I suspect it is in their kitchens and not in their churches that their reformation must be worked, and that Missionaries of that description from [France] would avail more than those who should endeavor to tame them by precepts of religion or philosophy.
    Thomas Jefferson (1743–1826)
