Pennsylvania Route 478

Pennsylvania Route 478 (designated by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation as SR 478) is a 2.20-mile (3.54 km) long state highway located in Clarion and Venango Counties. The highway begins at an intersection with Pennsylvania Route 38 and Pennsylvania Route 208 northeast of Emlenton. The highway serves the eastbound interchange for Exit 45 and terminates at Pennsylvania Route 58 in St. Petersburg.

The alignment of Route 478 began as part of the former alignment of Pennsylvania Route 238 until 1936, when Route 378 was designated on the alignment. In 1961, to avoid duplication with the newly numbered Interstate 378 in Bethlehem, the route was redesignated as Route 478.

Famous quotes containing the words pennsylvania and/or route:

The discovery of Pennsylvania’s coal and iron was the deathblow to Allaire. The works were moved to Pennsylvania so hurriedly that for years pianos and the larger pieces of furniture stood in the deserted houses.
—For the State of New Jersey, U.S. public relief program (1935-1943)

By a route obscure and lonely,
    Haunted by ill angels only,
    Where an eidolon, named Night,
On a black throne reigns upright,
I have reached these lands but newly
    From an ultimate dim Thule—
From a wild weird clime that lieth, sublime,
    Out of space—out of time.
    Edgar Allan Poe (1809–1849)
