Pennsylvania Route 245 (PA 245) was a 2 mile (3 km) long east–west state highway located in the U.S. state of Pennsylvania. Commissioned in 1928, the designation began at U.S. Route 309 in Slatington, east to Pennsylvania Route 45 in Berlinsville. The route was eliminated from the state highway system in 1946. Famous quotes containing the words pennsylvania and/or route:

The discovery of Pennsylvania’s coal and iron was the deathblow to Allaire. The works were moved to Pennsylvania so hurriedly that for years pianos and the larger pieces of furniture stood in the deserted houses.
—For the State of New Jersey, U.S. public relief program (1935-1943)

A route differs from a road not only because it is solely intended for vehicles, but also because it is merely a line that connects one point with another. A route has no meaning in itself; its meaning derives entirely from the two points that it connects. A road is a tribute to space. Every stretch of road has meaning in itself and invites us to stop. A route is the triumphant devaluation of space, which thanks to it has been reduced to a mere obstacle to human movement and a waste of time.
    Milan Kundera (b. 1929)
