Penn State Army ROTC - Army ROTC Progression

Army ROTC Progression

For a Cadet who takes only the first two years of ROTC (Basic Course), there is no military obligation, unless the student accepts a scholarship or enrolls in the Simultaneous Membership Program (SMP). An SMP Cadet is simultaneously an ROTC Cadet and a member of the Army Reserve or National Guard. The last two years of the program is called the Advanced Course. All Advance Course Cadets signs a contract and agrees to serve on either Active Duty or in a reserve component (Army National Guard or Army Reserve) after graduation. This enlistment contract places the Cadet in the United States Army Reserve Control Group (ROTC) so they can be paid at least a stipend during the school year and for training during the summer between the junior and senior years.

Famous quotes containing the words army and/or progression:

Olivia Dandridge: You don’t have to say it, Captain. I know all this is because of me. Because I wanted to see the West. Because I wasn’t, I wasn’t army enough to stay the winter.
Capt. Brittles: You’re not quite army yet miss, or you’d know never to apologize. It’s a sign of weakness.
    Frank S. Nugent (1908–1965)

Measured by any standard known to science—by horse-power, calories, volts, mass in any shape,—the tension and vibration and volume and so-called progression of society were full a thousand times greater in 1900 than in 1800;Mthe force had doubled ten times over, and the speed, when measured by electrical standards as in telegraphy, approached infinity, and had annihilated both space and time. No law of material movement applied to it.
    Henry Brooks Adams (1838–1918)
