Pendulum (Creedence Clearwater Revival Album) - Background, Recording and Production

Background, Recording and Production

Like most Creedence albums, the songs on Pendulum were rehearsed at "the Factory" (as in Cosmo's Factory) in Berkeley, California and were recorded at Wally Heider Studios in San Francisco. Producing the album was John Fogerty. The album took about a month to complete, which was rather long for the group. The reason for this was John Fogerty's insistence on the horn section (which he played by himself), the keyboards, and backing vocals. As usual, the first take of a song was played by all four members with John going in later for the vocal and additional instrument overdubs. The album was remastered and reissued on 180 Gram Vinyl by Analogue Productions in 2006.

Famous quotes containing the words recording and/or production:

Self-expression is not enough; experiment is not enough; the recording of special moments or cases is not enough. All of the arts have broken faith or lost connection with their origin and function. They have ceased to be concerned with the legitimate and permanent material of art.
    Jane Heap (c. 1880–1964)

An art whose limits depend on a moving image, mass audience, and industrial production is bound to differ from an art whose limits depend on language, a limited audience, and individual creation. In short, the filmed novel, in spite of certain resemblances, will inevitably become a different artistic entity from the novel on which it is based.
George Bluestone, U.S. educator, critic. “The Limits of the Novel and the Limits of the Film,” Novels Into Film, Johns Hopkins Press (1957)
