Paya Lebar MRT Station - Platform Screen Doors

Platform Screen Doors

As with most of the above-ground stations along the East West Line, it was built without platform screen doors to prevent commuters from falling onto the train tracks. Installation of half-height platform screen doors was started on 28 October 2010 and started operations on 11 January 2011 with Bedok.

The Circle Line side of this station has been equipped with full-height platform screen doors since the operations started on 17 April 2010. Even though, it became the first ever underground MRT station with double-island platforms.

Famous quotes containing the words platform, screen and/or doors:

Across Parker Avenue from the fort is the Site of the Old Gallows, where 83 men “stood on nothin’, a-lookin’ up a rope.” The platform had a trap wide enought to “accommodate” 12 men, but half that number was the highest ever reached. On two occasions six miscreants were executed. There were several groups of five, some quartets and trios.

The 1950s to me is darkness, hidden history, perversion behind most doors waiting to creep out. The 1950s to most people is kitsch and Mickey Mouse watches and all this intolerable stuff.
