Famous quotes containing the words paul and/or hugh:

After Stéphane Mallarmé, after Paul Verlaine, after Gustave Moreau, after Puvis de Chavannes, after our own verse, after all our subtle colour and nervous rhythm, after the faint mixed tints of Conder, what more is possible? After us the Savage God.
    William Butler Yeats (1865–1939)

There one that ruffled in a manly pose
For all his timid heart, there that slow man,
That meditative man, John Synge, and those
Impetuous men, Shawe-Taylor and Hugh Lane,
    Found pride established in humility,
A scene well set and excellent company.
    William Butler Yeats (1865–1939)
