Paul Mantz - Family Life

Family Life

In 1932, Mantz married Myrtle Harvey, one of his former flying students, but divorced in 1935. He remarried two years later to Terry Mac Minor and had a son, Paul, with his second wife, while her two children, Roy and Tenita, were subsequently adopted. The Mantz family lived on Balboa Island, off Newport Beach, California, where Mantz had a yacht. After years of successful ventures in both air racing and movie work, he had accumulated more than $10 million in profits, and by 1965, was planning his retirement. When his partner, Frank Tallman, broke his leg in a freak accident, Mantz stepped in to finish the aerial scenes for one last movie project.

Famous quotes containing the words family life, family and/or life:

Anytime we react to behavior in our children that we dislike in ourselves, we need to proceed with extreme caution. The dynamics of everyday family life also have a way of repeating themselves.
    Cathy Rindner Tempelsman (20th century)

I acknowledge that the balance I have achieved between work and family roles comes at a cost, and every day I must weigh whether I live with that cost happily or guiltily, or whether some other lifestyle entails trade-offs I might accept more readily. It is always my choice: to change what I cannot tolerate, or tolerate what I cannot—or will not—change.
    Melinda M. Marshall (20th century)

Do not be too moral. You may cheat yourself out of much life so. Aim above morality.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)
