Patriot Youth League of Sweden

Sveriges fosterländska ungdomsförbund (Patriot Youth League of Sweden), an organization constituted on April 9, 1917, by representatives of the so-called National Democratic Youth Movement. The organization worked for preservation of monarchy and the official church.

One year after founding, the organization had 75 local units and around 6,000 members. An annual national meeting elected an eleven member Central Committee which appointed a five-member Executive Committee. The organ of the organization was Nationaldemokraten (The National Democrat).

When Swedish speakers from Finland arrived to Sweden during the Finnish Civil War, the organization mobilized logistical support for them.

Famous quotes containing the words patriot, youth and/or league:

“My country, right or wrong” is a thing that no patriot would think of saying except in a desperate case. It is like saying “My mother, drunk or sober.”
    Gilbert Keith Chesterton (1874–1936)

Colleges, in like manner, have their indispensable office,—to teach elements. But they can only highly serve us, when they aim not to drill, but to create; when they gather from far every ray of various genius to their hospitable halls, and, by the concentrated fires, set the hearts of their youth on flame.
    Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803–1882)

He will deliver you from six troubles; in seven no harm shall touch you. In famine he will redeem you from death, and in war from the power of the sword. You shall be hidden from the scourge of the tongue, and shall not fear destruction when it comes. At destruction and famine you shall laugh, and shall not fear the wild animals of the earth. For you shall be in league with the stones of the field, and the wild animals shall be at peace with you.
    Bible: Hebrew, Job 5:19-23.
