Patrick Keely - Early Life in Ireland

Early Life in Ireland

Keely was born in Thurles, County Tipperary, Ireland (alternatively another source states it was County Kilkenny, Ireland), on August 9, 1816, to a family in comfortable circumstances. His draftsman and builder father introduced him to architecture and training in construction, though nothing is recorded of his architectural design education.

Famous quotes containing the words early, life and/or ireland:

Very early in our children’s lives we will be forced to realize that the “perfect” untroubled life we’d like for them is just a fantasy. In daily living, tears and fights and doing things we don’t want to do are all part of our human ways of developing into adults.
    Fred Rogers (20th century)

What’s fame? A fancied life in others’ breath,
    Alexander Pope (1688–1744)

No people can more exactly interpret the inmost meaning of the present situation in Ireland than the American Negro. The scheme is simple. You knock a man down and then have him arrested for assault. You kill a man and then hang the corpse.
    —W.E.B. (William Edward Burghardt)
