A rehearsed reading of the Return from Parnassus, or The Scourge of Simony was performed at Shakespeare's Globe Theatre, London, on Sunday December 6, 2009. It is believed to be the first performance of the play for 400 years. Actors doubled up on some parts. Notably, two women were cast. The cast was as follows:
