Paper wrapped cake (Chinese: 紙包蛋糕; Jyutping: zi2 baau1 daan6 gou1) is a type of Chinese pastry. It is one of the most standard pastries served in Hong Kong. It can also be found in most Chinatown bakery shops. In essence, it is a chiffon cake baked in a paper cup.

In the bakeries of Chinatown, San Francisco, it is commonly referred to as "sponge cake."

Famous quotes containing the words paper, wrapped and/or cake:

A playwright ... is ... the litmus paper of the arts. He’s got to be, because if he isn’t working on the same wave length as the audience, no one would know what in hell he was talking about. He is a kind of psychic journalist, even when he’s great.
    Arthur Miller (b. 1915)

    Oh mother,
    her in your lap,
as good as a bowlful of clouds,
    I your greedy child
    am given your breast,
    the sea wrapped in skin.
    Anne Sexton (1928–1974)

“It is such a beautiful day I had to write you a letter
From the tower, and to show I’m not mad:
I only slipped on the cake of soap of the air
And drowned in the bathtub of the world....”
    John Ashbery (b. 1927)
