Pandora (jewelry) - History

History

In 1982, Per and Winnie Enevoldsen opened a shop in the Nørrebrogade area of Copenhagen. When the demand for their products increased, the couple shifted their focus to the wholesale business. In 1984, the couple opened a production facility in Thailand, Pandora Productions, and hired designer Lone Frandsen to help create a jewelry line. In 1996, Pandora — strictly a wholesale dealer by then — hired its second designer, goldsmith Lisbeth Enø Lochte, who worked with Frandsen to create Pandora’s signature style and customizable charm bracelet. In 2006, Pandora launched its first store in Hamburg, Germany, followed by locations in Australia, Denmark, Switzerland, Canada, United Kingdom and the United States. Pandora employs more than 2,500 people. The company was sold through an IPO on October 5, 2010.

Famous quotes containing the word history:

    Every library should try to be complete on something, if it were only the history of pinheads.
    Oliver Wendell Holmes, Sr. (1809–1894)

    You that would judge me do not judge alone
    This book or that, come to this hallowed place
    Where my friends’ portraits hang and look thereon;
    Ireland’s history in their lineaments trace;
    Think where man’s glory most begins and ends
    And say my glory was I had such friends.
    William Butler Yeats (1865–1939)

    The history of all Magazines shows plainly that those which have attained celebrity were indebted for it to articles similar in natureto Berenice—although, I grant you, far superior in style and execution. I say similar in nature. You ask me in what does this nature consist? In the ludicrous heightened into the grotesque: the fearful coloured into the horrible: the witty exaggerated into the burlesque: the singular wrought out into the strange and mystical.
    Edgar Allan Poe (1809–1849)
