Pagsanjan Falls Stamp - Error

Error

Although the inscription reads Pagsanjan Falls, the waterfall on the stamp is Vernal Fall, a waterfall in Yosemite National Park in California. The error came about because the engraver intentionally used a photograph of Vernal Fall as the basis for the image on the stamp. No stamp was issued with a corrected image.

Famous quotes containing the word error:

It is as certain as it is strange that truth and error come from one and the same source; for that reason one must often not do something to the detriment of error since one would do also something detrimental to truth.
    Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe (1749–1832)

It is error alone which needs the support of government. Truth can stand by itself.
    Thomas Jefferson (1743–1826)

Truth is one, but error proliferates. Man tracks it down and cuts it up into little pieces hoping to turn it into grains of truth. But the ultimate atom will always essentially be an error, a miscalculation.
    René Daumal (1908–1944)
