Pacific Express

Pacific Express was an all-jet airline that existed from about 1982 to 1984,. This new start-up air carrier was based in Chico, California. The airline later marketed itself as Pan Am Pacific Express thus reflecting a marketing agreement between Pan American World Airways (Pan Am) and the carrier for connecting passenger traffic feed at the Los Angeles and San Francisco airports.

Pacific Express initially operated a small fleet of British Aircraft Corp. BAC One-Eleven twinjets. The airline then began operating Boeing 737-200 aircraft as well. Pacific Express had new British Aerospace BAe 146-200 jetliners on order from the manufacturer but never took delivery of these aircraft due to financial challenges which resulted in the airline ceasing all operations. Some of these BAe 146 jets were then purchased by Pacific Southwest Airlines (PSA).

The name Pacific Express is now used as the callsign of Jetstar Pacific Airlines, the second largest airline in Vietnam.

Famous quotes containing the words pacific and/or express:

I need not tell you of the inadequacy of the American shipping marine on the Pacific Coast.... For this reason it seems to me that there is no subject to which Congress can better devote its attention in the coming session than the passage of a bill which shall encourage our merchant marine in such a way as to establish American lines directly between New York and the eastern ports and South American ports, and both our Pacific Coast ports and the Orient and the Philippines.
    William Howard Taft (1857–1930)

Letters have to pass two tests before they can be classed as good: they must express the personality both of the writer and of the recipient.
