P H Ravikumar presently the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange Limited is a hard core banker. Prior to assuming his present post he has worked in senior level positions in ICICI Bank, the last being the Senior General Manager & Head of Emerging Corporates & Agri Business Group of the bank. He was a key member of the core team which set up and grew ICICI Bank. Before his brief stint with ICICI Bank (almost 10 years) he worked for Bank of India, a premier public sector bank in India for about 22 years. Out of the 32 years of banking experience, over 9 years were as ‘Head of Treasury’ and then Corporate banking reporting directly to the MD. His work experience spans both grass root (branch) level areas as well as at administrative offices – across retail, corporate and treasury banking areas, both in India and abroad. The roles involved evolving policies and delivery structures of the bank, choosing the technology platforms, evolving risk management structures and influencing the evolution of the operating environment. While at Bank of India he had served as a Foreign Exchange Dealer for 6 years at Paris Branch of Bank of India.
He has excelled academically also. He is a University rank holder in his Commerce graduation degree exam and has obtained distinction at the Senior Diploma in French examination. He stood Fifth in CAIIB (Part II) All India Examination, has received Calcutta Banker’s Association prize for securing highest marks in higher accountancy (CAIIB Part II) Examination in entire India. He was the first Indian banker to be awarded a Gold medal for excellence in Banking by French Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Economy.
He is a member on the Board of Directors of Bharat Forge Limited, Pune, Eveready Industries India Limited, Kolkata, National Collateral Management Services Ltd., The Federal Bank Ltd., NABARD Consultancy Services (P) Ltd. & National Commodity & Derivatives Exchange Limited of which he is also the MD & CEO. He is also on the governing body of Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India, Ahmedabad. He is also a regular member as a guest faculty speaker on macro topical issues in regard to banking at Bankers’ Training College, National Institute of Bank Management and other major Institutes of Management and other industry, he is also a writer/ speaker through print & audio visual media on all topical banking subjects
