P. Chidambaram

Chidambaram Palaniappan (born 16 September 1945) is an Indian politician with the Indian National Congress and the current Union Minister of Finance of the Republic of India. P. Chidambaram is a well known corporate lawyer having represented well known clients like the now bankrupt Enron and an important member of the last two Congress led Government's at the center. Previously he had served as Finance Minister of India from May 2004 to November 2008. However, after the resignation of Shivraj Patil in the wake of the Mumbai terror attacks in November 2008 erupted in a controversy, Chidambaram was made the Home Affairs Minister. After a three and a half year stint as Home Minister, Chidambaram was reappointed Union Minister of Finance after Manmohan Singh.
