Born in Watseka, Illinois, Cast lives in Tulsa, where she taught high school English and where her daughter is a student at the University of Tulsa.
Cast has been married and divorced three times. In June 2010, Cast wrote about her marriages and her current personal relationship with Seoras Wallace, a Scottish historian and chieftain of Clan Wallace, whom she met while researching her novel The Avenger.
