Oxford Brookes University has earned recognition for quality in architecture, Real Estate Management, art, economics, computer science, hotel management, automotive/motorsports engineering, history, modern languages and publishing. The Oxford International Centre for Publishing Studies is one of several programmes at Brookes that has expanded the university's reputation abroad.

The Department of Architecture is one of the largest in Britain and is consistently ranked in the top five schools in the UK. In the most recent 2008 survey by the Architect's Journal it was ranked fourth overall.

According to the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, land and property programmes at Oxford Brookes University were placed second in the UK in The Times Good University Guide League Table for 2005. The Department of Real Estate and Construction was assessed by the Quality Assurance Agency in 1998 and was awarded the excellent mark of 23 out of 24.

Research by TNS in 2010 ranked the Oxford Brookes University's hotel management course within the best top 10 hotel management schools in the world.

Brookes provides one of the largest Online MBA programmes in the world (30th) as ranked by the Financial Times Listing.

In the QS World University Rankings 2011/12, Oxford Brookes University was ranked in the 401-450 bracket. This was the first time the university had broken into a major global ranking and represents a place in the top 2 percent of global academia.

In 2012 Oxford Brookes came 15th in the People & Planet 'green league' table of universities and received a first class award for its environmental credentials.
