  • Scope of a project in project management is the sum total of all of its products and their requirements or features.
  • Tasks in project management are activity that needs to be accomplished within a defined period of time.
  • Work in project management is the amount of effort applied to produce a deliverable or to accomplish a task (a terminal element).
  • Vertical slice – is a type of milestone, benchmark, or deadline, with emphasis on demonstrating progress across all components of a project.
  • Work package – is a subset of a project that can be assigned to a specific party for execution. Because of the similarity, work packages are often misidentified as projects.
  • Workstream – is a set of associated activities, focused around a particular scope that follow a path from initiation to completion.

Famous quotes containing the words general, project, management and/or concepts:

There has always been the same amount of light in the world. The new and missing stars, the comets and eclipses, do not affect the general illumination, for only our glasses appreciate them.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)

A candidate once called his opponent “a willful, obstinate, unsavory, obnoxious, pusillanimous, pestilential, pernicious, and perversable liar” without pausing for breath, and even his enemies removed their hats.
—Federal Writers’ Project Of The Wor, U.S. public relief program (1935-1943)

The management of fertility is one of the most important functions of adulthood.
    Germaine Greer (b. 1939)

During our twenties...we act toward the new adulthood the way sociologists tell us new waves of immigrants acted on becoming Americans: we adopt the host culture’s values in an exaggerated and rigid fashion until we can rethink them and make them our own. Our idea of what adults are and what we’re supposed to be is composed of outdated childhood concepts brought forward.
    Roger Gould (20th century)
