Religious Life
As a Xaverian Brothers sponsored school, Good Counsel has an active campus ministry. Students are all required to take 4 years of religious studies classes, as well as participate in religious retreats (which focus on all sorts of issues – spiritual and secular). Masses are held on major religious holidays, with students taking part as altar servers or readers, and with the school's major choir (as well as faculty and staff) providing accompaniment.
All students are required to complete a certain number of community service hours each year, for a total of 100 hours upon graduation.

Famous quotes containing the words religious and/or life:
“This philosophy of hate, of religious and racial intolerance, with its passionate urge toward war, is loose in the world. It is the enemy of democracy; it is the enemy of all the fruitful and spiritual sides of life. It is our responsibility, as individuals and organizations, to resist this.”
—Mary Heaton Vorse (18741966)
“All men are partially buried in the grave of custom, and of some we see only the crown of the head above ground. Better are the physically dead, for they more lively rot. Even virtue is no longer such if it be stagnant. A mans life should be constantly as fresh as this river. It should be the same channel, but a new water every instant.”
—Henry David Thoreau (18171862)
