History

The Vikings was founded in Oslo in September 1986 by a group of friends who had previously played for the Ris, Ullern and Oslo Commerce School high school teams. The founding name of the club was the Westside Vikings, and they immediately entered competition in the new, three-team strong Norwegian American Football Federation league, joining the VĂ¥lerenga Trolls and the Kolbotn Kodiaks.

Famous quotes containing the word history:

What would we not give for some great poem to read now, which would be in harmony with the scenery,—for if men read aright, methinks they would never read anything but poems. No history nor philosophy can supply their place.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)

A great proportion of the inhabitants of the Cape are always thus abroad about their teaming on some ocean highway or other, and the history of one of their ordinary trips would cast the Argonautic expedition into the shade.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)

The history of American politics is littered with bodies of people who took so pure a position that they had no clout at all.
    Ben C. Bradlee (b. 1921)
