Orewa College - International Students

International Students

International students make up for around 20% of the school roll.

Germany and Japan have ongoing exchange programmes with the college - students stay from 3 months to 3 years.

Other international students are immigrants to New Zealand and their high volume reflects that of the Northern Auckland population of high foreign immigrants, mostly from Asian countries.

Countries people commonly emigrate from to the suburbs around Orewa College (not in any order): South Korea, China, Japan, South Africa and the UK.

International Students at Orewa College have the chance to go on a number of school trips organised by Orewa College and their partners. Trips include a 2 week trip to the South Island, 2 day visit to Northland, 2 day trip to Coromandel and many others. Furthermore students may be eligible for subsidies towards the cost of these trips by partners of Orewa College including ISNZ who encourage international students to explore New Zealand by taking part in various trips.

Famous quotes containing the word students:

Teaching Black Studies, I find that students are quick to label a black person who has grown up in a predominantly white setting and attended similar schools as “not black enough.” ...Our concept of black experience has been too narrow and constricting.
