Community Environment Report
In January 2013, OPAL published the Community Environment Report, summarising the findings of the first five years of the project and its contribution to citizen science.
The report showed that more than half a million people across England had been involved in OPAL activities, many of whom were carrying out a nature survey for the very first time. Their data had also provided scientists with information about locations that had not been sampled before and may not otherwise have been studied.

Famous quotes containing the words community, environment and/or report:
“When you have come into the land that the LORD your God is giving you, and have taken possession of it and settled in it, and you say, I will set a king over me, like all the nations that are around me, you may indeed set over you a king whom the LORD your God will choose. One of your own community you may set as king over you; you are not permitted to put a foreigner over you, who is not of your own community.”
—Bible: Hebrew, Deuteronomy 17:14,15.
“Maturity involves being honest and true to oneself, making decisions based on a conscious internal process, assuming responsibility for ones decisions, having healthy relationships with others and developing ones own true gifts. It involves thinking about ones environment and deciding what one will and wont accept.”
—Mary Pipher (20th century)
“Sure, you can love your child when he or she has just brought home a report card with straight As. Its a lot harder, though, to show the same love when teachers call you from school to tell you that your child hasnt handed in any homework since the beginning of the term.”
—The Lions Clubs International and the Quest Nation. The Surprising Years, II, ch.3 (1985)
