On The Fourfold Root of The Principle of Sufficient Reason

On the Fourfold Root of the Principle of Sufficient Reason (German: Über die vierfache Wurzel des Satzes vom zureichenden Grunde) was originally published as German philosopher Arthur Schopenhauer's doctoral dissertation in 1813. He revised and re-published it in 1847. The work articulated the centerpiece of many of Schopenhauer's arguments. Throughout his later works he consistently refers his readers to this short treatise as the necessary beginning point for a full understanding of his further writings.

    I will go root away
The noisome weeds which without profit suck

Whether our feet are compressed in iron shoes, our faces hidden with veils and masks; whether yoked with cows to draw the plow through its furrows, or classed with idiots, lunatics and criminals in the laws and constitutions of the State, the principle is the same; for the humiliations of the spirit are as real as the visible badges of servitude.
    Elizabeth Cady Stanton (1815–1902)

Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.
Bible: New Testament Jesus, in Matthew, 6:34.

From the Sermon on the Mount.

There must be a reason why some people can afford to live well. They must have worked for it. I only feel angry when I see waste. When I see people throwing away things that we could use.
    Mother Teresa (b. 1910)
