Famous quotes containing the words theater, office and/or building:
“I want to give the audience a hint of a scene. No more than that. Give them too much and they wont contribute anything themselves. Give them just a suggestion and you get them working with you. Thats what gives the theater meaning: when it becomes a social act.”
—Orson Welles (19151984)
“We need not fear excessive influence. A more generous trust is permitted. Serve the great. Stick at no humiliation. Grudge no office thou canst render. Be the limb of their body, the breath of their mouth. Compromise thy egotism.”
—Ralph Waldo Emerson (18031882)
“A publisher is a specialised form of bank or building society, catering for customers who cannot cope with life and are therefore forced to write about it.”
—Colin Haycraft (b. 1929)
