Olomouc Summer Institute (Olomoucká letní škola) is a project assembling students from all over the world each year, at the beginning of July, in Olomouc, the Czech Republic. The project began in 1994 and in a time span of 11 years it evolved continuously. Beginning with 1998, the OSI welcomed a broad contingent of international students. All of the participating students are required to take part into different educational activities that are being held in English, the official language of the program. The Classes and Seminars are dedicated to developing young leaders in order to sustain growing democratic societies. At the same time, the Olomouc Summer Institute offers to its participants exciting Special Activities, like the Leadership Challenge, which constitute the memories of a life-time for many alumni.
Famous quotes containing the words summer and/or institute:
“While yet it is cold January, and snow and ice are thick and solid, the prudent landlord comes from the village to get ice to cool his summer drink; impressively, even pathetically, wise, to foresee the heat and thirst of July now in January, wearing a thick coat and mittens! when so many things are not provided for. It may be that he lays up no treasures in this world which will cool his summer drink in the next.”
—Henry David Thoreau (18171862)
“Whenever any form of government shall become destructive of these ends, it is the right of the people to alter or to abolish it, & to institute new government, laying its foundation on such principles & organising its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their safety & happiness.”
—Thomas Jefferson (17431826)
