Student population at Oklahoma Road Middle School peaked in 2003 at 902. As of 2007, the student population is 2.6% African-American, 93% European-American, 2.3% Asian-Pacific Islander, 1.7% Hispanic, and less than 1% Native American.
Slightly more than 4% of the students receive free or reduced meals, a percentage that it 50% higher than just several years ago. Nearly 10% of the students receive special education, a number which has only decreased nominally in the past few years. Again, as of 2007, students scored between 87% and 90.8% in grades 6th - 8th for reading and between 74.5% and 87.8% for math, with nearly one-third of the students qualify as advanced.
Oklahoma Road Middle School or ORMS opened mid-way through the 1997 school year, splitting Sykesville Middle School in half.
The "Twister" mascot was created by then, seventh grade student, Eliza Haroldson.
