Taxonomy and Classification
Oesophagostomum is part of the phylum Nematoda. This phylum is composed of five orders: Ascaridida, Enoplida, Oxyurida, Spirurida, Strongylida and Rhabditida. Strongylida has three superfamilies - Ancyclostomatoidea, Trichostrongyloidea andStrongylidea. Oesophagostomum lie within the Strongyloidae.
