Educational Institutions
The district features at least two institutions of higher learning, Lincoln University at 15th and Franklin, a small business school catering mainly to international students, and Oaksterdam University on 19th Street, a business college which prepares students for medical cannabis work. Oaksterdam University was raided by the DEA on April 2, 2012 and they performed a smash and grab.
Richard Lee announced he was no longer going to be the leader of Oaksterdam University because of the harassment by the DEA.

Famous quotes containing the words educational and/or institutions:
“Class is rarely talked about in the United States; nowhere is there a more intense silence about the reality of class differences than in educational settings.”
—bell hooks (b. c. 1955)
“The way in which men cling to old institutions after the life has departed out of them, and out of themselves, reminds me of those monkeys which cling by their tailsaye, whose tails contract about the limbs, even the dead limbs, of the forest, and they hang suspended beyond the hunters reach long after they are dead. It is of no use to argue with such men. They have not an apprehensive intellect, but merely, as it were a prehensile tail.”
—Henry David Thoreau (18171862)
