From 2008 - 2011 Oak-Land Jr. High has held the distinction of being an "Apple Distinguished School" for its work in integrating technology, instruction and learning. The Apple Distinguished School designation is reserved for schools that have implemented a 21st century vision of education using technology. There were 18 schools chosen nationally to receive this designation. Oak-Land was also an Apple "One to One" school for many years. During this time each student and staff member were issued laptops. Currently, both Jr. High Schools in Stillwater utilize computer labs and carts of computers as well.
Oak-Land Junior High has a chapter of the National Junior Honor Society (NJHS). The NJHS is a service-oriented organization, designed to promote teamwork, leadership and good character. The member requirements are good citizenship skills and high grade-point averages. Members were selected by a panel of Oak-Land staff members who reviewed applications, essays and letters of reference.
