NYSCF - The NYSCF Research Institute

The NYSCF Research Institute

In March 2006, NYSCF opened the first privately funded human embryonic stem cell (hESC) laboratory in New York. Initially, the lab acted as a safe haven, free from federal restrictions for scientists to conduct all types of stem cell research, including studies that involve embryonic stem cells, induced pluripotent stem cells, and somatic cell nuclear transfer.

Now, the NYSCF Research Institute occupies over 6,000 square feet of space, and employs 40 full-time researchers. The NYSCF Research Institute is home to the NYSCF Global Stem Cell Array, a proprietary, automated robotic technology that produces induced pluripotent stem cell lines in a standardized manner.

NYSCF focuses its research efforts on disease modeling and the development of cell therapies.

Famous quotes containing the words research and/or institute:

One of the most important findings to come out of our research is that being where you want to be is good for you. We found a very strong correlation between preferring the role you are in and well-being. The homemaker who is at home because she likes that “job,” because it meets her own desires and needs, tends to feel good about her life. The woman at work who wants to be there also rates high in well-being.
    Grace Baruch (20th century)

Whenever any form of government shall become destructive of these ends, it is the right of the people to alter or to abolish it, & to institute new government, laying it’s foundation on such principles & organising it’s powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their safety & happiness.
    Thomas Jefferson (1743–1826)
