Notre Dame Catholic Secondary School (Burlington) - School Population

School Population

The school enrolled slightly over 1,100 as a large amount has been placed at Corpus Christi. As of 2012, there are 4 portables to contain the minor overflow of classes and students. It receives most new students from local elementary schools including St. Gabriel, St. Timothy, St. Mark, Canadian Martyrs.

Notre Dame, like all publicly funded Catholic schools in Ontario, also accepts non-Catholics into the school; however, they are expected to take part in the religious activities and mandatory religious classes.

The Catholic school's parishes are St. Paul the Apostle and St. Gabriel. It belongs to the Diocese of Hamilton, under Bishop Anthony Tonnos.

Famous quotes containing the words school and/or population:

There is nothing intrinsically better about a child who happily bounces off to school the first day and a child who is wary, watchful, and takes a longer time to separate from his parents and join the group. Neither one nor the other is smarter, better adjusted, or destined for a better life.
    Ellen Galinsky (20th century)

In our large cities, the population is godless, materialized,—no bond, no fellow-feeling, no enthusiasm. These are not men, but hungers, thirsts, fevers, and appetites walking. How is it people manage to live on,—so aimless as they are? After their peppercorn aims are gained, it seems as if the lime in their bones alone held them together, and not any worthy purpose.
    Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803–1882)
