Moot Court Society

The Moot Court Society is a student-run organization whose purpose is to further the advancement of appellate advocacy. It draws its members from those students who have participated in the Prize Moot Court Competition offered to second-year students, or other co-curricular moot court competitions.

Members participate in the formulation of the Prize Moot Court problem, the administration of the program, and the judging of arguments in other programs. They are also eligible for membership on teams which participate in regional and national competitions.

Famous quotes containing the words moot, court and/or society:

It is moot whether there be divinities
As I finish this play by Webster:
The street-cars are still running however
And the katharsis fades in the warm water of a yawn.
    Allen Tate (1899–1979)

The city is recruited from the country. In the year 1805, it is said, every legitimate monarch in Europe was imbecile. The city would have died out, rotted, and exploded, long ago, but that it was reinforced from the fields. It is only country which came to town day before yesterday, that is city and court today.
    Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803–1882)

In a period of a people’s life that bears the designation “transitional,” the task of a thinking individual, of a sincere citizen of his country, is to go forward, despite the dirt and difficulty of the path, to go forward without losing from view even for a moment those fundamental ideals on which the entire existence of the society to which he belongs is built.
    Ivan Sergeevich Turgenev (1818–1883)
